Kenwick Train Station

The Maddington, Kenwick and Beckenham train stations are in desperate need of upgrades to provide suitable services for the users of the Armadale Train Line.

Earlier this month Andrew raised these concerns with the government in parliament after meeting with the Bickley Ward Rates Payers association.

These stations are in urgent need for upgrades, yet the Barnett government feels it acceptable to ignore them and instead upgrade the Edgewater station, which comparatively only a few years old.

Andrew is especially concerned about the rise in anti-social behaviour at these stations which studies have shown could be a direct result of the poor maintenance of the facilities. This is known as the Broken Window Theory.

The government has now committed to minimal upgrades at only the Kenwick station to be completed within the next two months. These upgrades will only include additional lighting and removal of concealing vegetation.

Andrew will be monitoring the progress of these upgrades to ensure they are delivered on time. He will also continue to pressure the government to provide adequate public transport services throughout the east metropolitan region. If the government can find $5.3 million to build a few shade sails at Edgewater station then their priorities need to come under question.
